Drone biography
Building this drone has brought us together. It is unique in the way that it has dropped from very high heights onto concrete and hard dirt without breaking, and has flown with a slightly crooked propeller. We call it Anakin the Mannequin because it is a combination of our combined interests in Star Wars and an inside joke. We feel name perfectly represents us as a group because it is weird and unique.

Ashley Peterson: Graphic Designer, I make the posters and work with other graphic designers to make things like stamp cards and stickers.
Natalie Mallory: Documentarian, I document work and present it to the public, and work on things such as the group video.
Easter Murphy, Project Manager: I oversee what the group is doing, give advice, and lend a hand where I am needed. I also make sure all of our deadlines are met on time, all documents are turned in, and that all pictures and videos are uploaded to Google Drive.

What is a drone?
A drone is an unmanned flying vehicle. They have been used for a wide variety of things ranging from military use, to collecting data on herds of animals in the Sahara desert, to recreational use.
For this project we are building drones and flying them for a variety of different things for whatever our group is doing. The groups are drop zones, games, obstacle course, and our version of quidditch. We are in the very small quidditch group. Our group will be building an arena for the game to be played in and painting it as well. We will have a golden snitch and two drones that will go for it.

Drones in society
Uses for drones are all over the place. There are athletic/entertainment drones, military drones, agricultural drones, medical drones, delivery drones, drones that make 3D mapping possible, and drones that look for poachers over herds of elephants in the Sahara Desert. There are athletic drones like the drones used by football coaches for taking pictures and videos of their players. The drones used for entertainment are the ones you can see marketed by companies like Air Hog to young boys. The military uses drones for surveillance and to launch missiles without risking the life of the person flying the drone. Agricultural drones are used for things like seeing if a part of a crop is dying from poor access to water. Medical/rescue drones fly over areas after a disaster has occurred to see if there are people trapped in a certain area. There are also companies figuring out how to drop medical supplies like medicine and food over Syria.
